The Vsevolozhsk Plant has begun production of Ford’s latest generation Focus, with the five door hatchback variant the first to roll off the line. The Focus four-door sedan and five-door estate versions is set to follow with production starting in September and January respectively.

Ford says that it has already received more than 5,000 orders for the new Focus in Russia, and the car will be offered in a choice of four trim levels, 10 exterior colours and four engines including three petrols and one diesel for the Russian market.

The Focus was first offered for sale in Russia in 1999, and Ford has since sold over half a million units in the country. Ford has been building the Focus at its Vsevolozhsk plant since 2002, and they have accounted for over 400,000 of the Focuses sold in Russia.
