Samantha Stosur defeated Roberta Vinci 6-4 6-1 on Friday to reach the semi-finals of the WTA Canada event.
The 11th-ranked Australian broke Vinci's serve while leading 5-4 in the first set to take the opener at the Rexall Centre.
Stosur will take on the winner of the match between Andrea Petkovic of Germany and Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland.
Advertisement: Story continues belowVictoria Azarenka of Belarus made quick work of No.135 Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan with a 6-1 6-2 victory. Voskoboeva had upset Maria Sharapova on Thursday.
Azarenka will meet either Serena Williams or Lucia Safarova, who were set to play in the evening quarter-final.
